California lawmakers propose legislation to block possible Golden Gate Bridge sidewalk toll

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Two California lawmakers plan to introduce legislation to block a possible sidewalk toll on the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge's board of directors voted last month to study the toll as part of an effort to close a projected five-year deficit of $33 million. Bridge spokeswoman Priya Clemens says the board will be able to respond once its members have had a chance to review the legislation. For now, staff will continue to study the possible fee.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Bankrupt Trump Entertainment Resorts and the city of Atlantic City have reached a deal to let the city collect unpaid taxes. The company is trying to keep its lone remaining casino open. The Trump Taj Mahal is scheduled to close Dec. 12, unless a deal can be reached with its main union regarding the restoration of health insurance and pension plans for its 3,000 workers.

Snow, slush and rain in the Northeast could slow millions of Thanksgiving travelers

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Thanksgiving travelers scrambled to change their plans and beat a storm expected to bring snow, slush and rain to the crowded Washington-to-Boston corridor Wednesday on one of the busiest, most stressful days of the year. Higher elevation areas west of the Interstate 95 corridor could see as much as 6 to 12 inches before the nor'easter exits Wednesday night, meteorologist Andrew Orrison said.
