For more than a year, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman has accused the company of being a "pyramid scheme" that makes money by recruiting more salespeople instead of through selling products. Herbalife rejects the accusation.

Goldman Sachs' earnings fall 11 percent as bond trading slumps; bank still beats expectations

NEW YORK (AP) — Goldman Sachs' earnings fell in the first quarter as bond trading slumped, but the results still came in ahead of what investors expected as other parts of the bank performed well. Revenue totaled $9.33 billion, down 8 percent from $10.09 billion a year earlier. EXPECTATIONS EXCEEDED: Goldman's earnings easily beat the $3.49 a share that analysts surveyed by FactSet predicted. First-quarter revenue also beat analysts' expectations of $8.7 billion. Goldman's stock rose 22 cents, or 0.1 percent, to $157.44.

Who says America has lost its muscle? Performance is the theme of New York auto show

NEW YORK (AP) — Who says America has lost its muscle? The focus is on power. Dodge unveiled the 2015 Challenger, which will offer a 6.4-liter, 485-horsepower V8. Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg debuted its $1.6 million Agera R supercar, which gets 1,140 horsepower (that's not a typo) and has a top speed of 273 miles per hour. There was a new Corvette convertible and an Alfa Romeo sports car. Ford kicked off the show by putting a bright yellow 2015 Mustang on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.

NYC mayor announces changes to beleaguered Superstorm Sandy recovery program

NEW YORK (AP) — Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled a sweeping report Thursday that examined New York City's recovery progress from Superstorm Sandy and promised to reform a much-maligned program that was supposed to rebuild wrecked homes. "Let's be blunt: It has been overly complex and confusing for homeowners over the last year and a half," de Blasio said.
