NEW YORK (AP) — New York City firefighters have been searching through rubble for a resident who's been missing since her apartment building exploded this weekend, killing one tenant and injuring three passers-by. Authorities say 47-year-old Francesca Figueroa was apparently moving out of the second floor during the blast Saturday. Her sister, Nicura, told reporters her sister is missing.

Bernanke: US economy outperforming Europe because Fed moved more quickly to fight downturn

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says the U.S. economy is outperforming Europe at the moment because the Fed moved more quickly and aggressively to fight the 2008 financial crisis than Europe did. Bernanke credited those differences to aggressive efforts by the Fed to jump-start economic growth. He said the Fed started six years ahead of moves by the European Central Bank.

Follow me, follow you: Twitter accounts of 2016 hopefuls can reveal interests _ and strategies

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jeb Bush follows Donald Trump on Twitter but that's a one-way street: Trump mainly follows people with a connection to himself. Ted Cruz's follow list is a big tea party, though he keeps an eye on President Barack Obama, too. Using Twitter to get a message out is now a must-do for presidential candidates, but looking at the accounts they follow can be instructive, too. Their follow list can reflect not only their personality and interests, but sometimes their strategy. In Rubio's case, it seems to reflect a bit of a problem with spam, as well.

In some families, student debt squeezes parents and children simultaneously and clouds future

WASHINGTON (AP) — A college degree practically stamped Andres Aguirre's ticket to the middle class. Yet at age 40, he's still paying the price of admission. After a decade of repayments, Aguirre still diverts $512 a month to loans and owes $20,000. The expense requires his family to rent an apartment in Campbell, California, because buying a home in a decent school district would cost too much. His daughter has excelled in high school, but Aguirre has urged her to attend community college to avoid the debt that ensnared him.
