French premier rejects 'caricature' view of country as sick, pledges to see through reforms

BERLIN (AP) — France's prime minister on Monday dismissed the view that his country is "sick," and insisted that it is both willing and able to carry out economic reforms. Ahead of Valls' two-day visit to Germany the country's biggest selling newspaper, Bild, referred to France as "Krankreich" — twisting the German word for France, "Frankreich," to instead mean "sick country."

Ohio power provider installs special fencing, cameras to deter metal thieves at substations

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A major electricity provider in northeast Ohio is installing special security fencing and thermal-imaging cameras at some substations to keep out would-be metal thieves. Metal thieves caused over $500,000 in losses at FirstEnergy's facilities in the region last year, Colafella said. There were 62 substation break-ins and $250,000 in losses for one distribution company alone, Ohio Edison.
