2 hours, 2 minutes ago

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Chalk up another round for Maker's Mark distillery in fending off claims of misleading marketing for promoting its Kentucky bourbon as handmade. They said the claim enticed them to purchase Maker's Mark instead of a less expensive whiskey. The plaintiffs, Safora Nowrouzi and Travis Williams, accused Maker's Mark of false advertising, unfair competition and negligent and intentional misrepresentation. The suit claimed the process to produce the bourbon features "little to no human supervision, assistance or involvement."

Zero-percent financing turns heads, but car buyers who qualify still need to do the math

2 hours, 6 minutes ago

DETROIT (AP) — When a car dealer offers to loan you the money to buy a car at zero interest, it gets your attention. Yet that cheap money might not be the best deal you can get. Not everyone will qualify. Zero-percent financing is generally reserved for those with the very best credit. Experian Automotive, which tracks auto loans, says 7 percent of new car loans had an interest rate of 1 percent or lower in the first quarter of this year. By comparison, 29 percent of new car loans had interest rates of 2.05 percent and below.

Christie's $225 million proposed settlement approaching judgment day as it heads to court

2 hours, 8 minutes ago

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A $225 million settlement between Gov. Chris Christie administration and ExxonMobil will be discussed in front of a state judge Thursday and New Jersey residents could find out soon if it will be approved. Opponents who tried unsuccessfully to intervene in the case argued the state inexplicably abandoned its earlier damages estimate of $8.9 billion before settling on the lower figure.
