Connecticut parents sue airlines after California man is charged with kidnapping daughter

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut couple is suing US Airways and an affiliate for allowing a California man now charged with kidnapping to fly their 14-year-old daughter to Sacramento last year. Authorities say 29-year-old Nathan Salas of Merced, California, met the girl online and flew her on a US Airways flight from New Haven to Sacramento International Airport, where he was arrested. The girl was unharmed. Salas is detained on $250,000 bail in Connecticut on kidnapping and other charges. His attorney declined to comment.

Maine's Great Northern Paper Co. files for bankruptcy

Great Northern, like many in the paper industry, has faced significant financial challenges for years. It was among the top paper companies in the middle and late 20th century, producing at one point in the 1960s about a sixth of the newsprint made in the United States, according to an article on Harvard Business School's website.
