(AP) — The flagship game under development by Curt Schilling's defunct video game company failed to sell at auction because no "acceptable" offers were made, and only two pieces of intellectual property went for $320,000, the firm's court-appointed receiver said Friday. Land said five parties participated in Wednesday's telephone auction by Global Heritage Partners. More than 20 had expressed interest.

Five weeks after Twitter's IPO, the social media company's shares hit their highest point yet on optimism about ad spending trends. RBC and Ad Age magazine conducted the survey of 900 advertising professionals. THE BACKGROUND: Twitter, which is based in San Francisco, has about 200 million users on its service, through which they can post 140-character messages. The San Francisco-based company makes the bulk of its money from advertising, and earlier this month it launched a new ad program that lets advertisers focus on a specific group of people and target ads at them.

PURCHASE, N.Y. (AP) — MasterCard has set new standards for its payroll cards, and says it says should help employees take better advantage of its benefits. The cards have stirred controversy. Proponents say they are the equivalent of cash or checks and give people access to funds in a fashion they can easily use. But critics point to fees to use the cards as a burden on low-wage workers who receive them as payment.
