It follows last fall's debut of Nintendo's Wii U and a preview in February of the upcoming PlayStation 4 from Sony. Here's a closer look at the three systems. More details are expected at the E3 video game conference in Los Angeles next month.

Microsoft touts Xbox One as all-in-1 entertainment

Microsoft thinks it has the one. The company unveiled the Xbox One, an entertainment console that wants to be the one system households will need for games, television, movies, sports and other entertainment. It will go on sale later this year, for an undisclosed price. For the past two years, Microsoft's Xbox 360 has outsold its rivals. But it's been eight years since that machine came out, and Microsoft is the last of the three major console makers to unveil a new system. In those eight years, Apple launched the iPhone and the iPad, "FarmVille" rose and fell and tablets began to threaten desktop computers, changing how people interact with games and beyond.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy says he will not offer _ for now _ an amendment to an immigration bill allowing gay Americans to seek green cards for their spouses. Leahy had been under pressure from gay rights groups to offer the amendment, which would have allowed gays to petition to bring their spouses to the United States like straight Americans can.
