Rental car company Hertz names John Tague as new CEO

NEW YORK (AP) — Hertz, which is the midst of correcting past accounting problems, said Thursday that it named John Tague as its new chief executive officer. The car rental company's former CEO, Mark Frissora, stepped down in September for personal reasons. Hertz announced in June that it needed to review financial reports from the last three years and restate 2011 results. At the time, Hertz wasn't sure if would need to restate statements from 2012 and 2013. But last week, the company said it would.

Malloy has tried to downplay the significance of these mid-year budget cuts, predicting the state will eventually end the fiscal year with a surplus.

National forest recommends land swap with developer for access road to Wolf Creek ski village

DENVER (AP) — The Rio Grande National Forest recommended approval of a land swap Thursday that would allow a developer to build an access road to a proposed ski village near the remote Wolf Creek Ski Area in southwestern Colorado. The ski area and proposed village are near Wolf Creek Pass, about 175 miles southwest of Denver.
