THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) _ Waste Connections Inc. (WCN) on Monday reported first-quarter net income of $51.8 million. The The Woodlands, Texas-based company said it had profit of 42 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 46 cents per share. The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 46 cents per share.

FDA says Medtronic must stop most sales of Synchromed drug pumps after years of problems

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Food and Drug Administration says Medtronic must stop most sales of its implantable drug pumps after years of uncorrected problems. Among other defects, some Synchromed pumps had to be recalled because they could lose battery power and fail, endangering patients. In other cases, the devices could cause patients to receive too much or too little medication. Medtronic generally did not recommend that patients have the devices removed, unless they were proven to be failing.

Container Store Group posts 4Q profit, results miss Wall Street forecasts

COPPELL, Texas (AP) _ The Container Store Group Inc. (TCS) on Monday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $13 million. The Coppell, Texas-based company said it had profit of 27 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted to extinguish debt, came to 24 cents per share. The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 31 cents per share.

SS&C Technologies beats 1Q profit expectations, misses revenue forecasts

WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) _ SS&C Technologies Holdings Inc. (SSNC) on Monday reported first-quarter net income of $26.2 million. On a per-share basis, the Windsor, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of 30 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 60 cents per share. The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.
