NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The four major professional sports leagues and the NCAA filed papers in court Monday to stop New Jersey's plan to allow legal sports betting beginning this weekend, when gamblers could become the first in the nation outside Nevada to wager on single games. Monmouth Park, a horse track, is the only location that has said it's ready to accept wagers and has outfitted an area for a sports book operation. On its website, it announced it would "begin offering and accepting wagers on sporting contests and athletic events on Sunday, Oct. 26."

Helix Energy posts 3Q profit of $75.6 million, result tops expectations

HOUSTON (AP) _ Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc. (HLX) on Monday reported third-quarter profit of $75.6 million. The Houston-based company said it had profit of 71 cents per share. The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 51 cents per share.

Ikea pushes for growth, makes shopping more accessible

NEW YORK (AP) — Ikea, whose stadium-sized furniture stores draw shoppers from miles around, is going where its shopper are: online. The Swedish company sells its products online in 13 of the 27 countries it operates in but plans to push its online offerings globally. The push is part of an overall goal to reach sales of 50 billion euros ($63.7 billion) by 2020 that was set a few years ago. The company also plans to open more stores while making the locations more inviting.

Labor Secretary Perez seeks to re-energize stalled Obama minimum wage and paid leave bids

WASHINGTON (AP) — Labor Secretary Tom Perez is seeking to re-energize President Barack Obama's stalled push for raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour and for making paid leave for mothers of newborns more widely available. "Nobody wins unless everybody wins," he said at the National Press Club.
