Drugs to treat the disease represent a large slice of Lilly's product portfolio, which includes the insulins Humalog and Humulin.

Polls close, vote counting begins in Scotland's historic referendum on independence from UK

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) — Excitement vied with apprehension as Scottish voters went to the polls Thursday in a referendum on independence, deciding whether to dissolve a 307-year union with England that brought prosperity but has increasingly felt stifling to many Scots. Eager voters had lined up outside some polling stations even before they opened at 7 a.m. Many polling stations were busy and turnout was expected to be high. More than 4.2 million people had registered to vote — 97 percent of those eligible — including residents as young as 16.

Analyst: Mohegan Sun faces financial peril after losing Boston-area license bid to Wynn

BOSTON (AP) — Mohegan Sun faces financial peril after losing out to Wynn Resorts in its bid to open a casino in the Boston-area, a Moody's Investor Service analysis warns. Foley said Mohegan Sun's long-term financial prospects "would have improved materially" had its proposed $1.1 billion casino at the Suffolk Downs horse racing track, which straddles East Boston and Revere, been chosen for the lone Boston-area casino license. Massachusetts gambling regulators instead went with Wynn's $1.6 billion plan to redevelop the industrial waterfront in Everett.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A JetBlue airliner experienced engine problems and returned to the Long Beach Airport on Thursday after a short flight that ended with passengers evacuating onto the runway using the plane's emergency slides. Flight 1416 was bound for Austin, Texas, when the crew declared an emergency after an "overheat warning" for one of its two engines, she said.
