The Latest: French prime minister says his country will do all it can to keep Greece in euro

PARIS (AP) — The latest on the fallout from the Greek referendum (all times local): 8:19 a.m. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls says his country will do everything possible to keep Greece in the eurozone, saying its exit would be a "risk for global economic growth." In an interview with the RTL radio network Tuesday, Valls denied that Grece's "no" vote was a rejection of Europe or its values but rather an expression of pride. He called on Greece's prime minister to put forward a plan and said France would be open to rescheduling Greece's debt.

TOKYO (AP) — Japan's Kyodo News says the American Toyota executive who was arrested last month on suspicion of drug law violations is expected to be released Tuesday without being prosecuted. Julie Hamp, 55, who was the highest ranking woman executive at the Japanese automaker, was arrested June 18 on suspicion of bringing in oxycodone, a narcotic pain killer, into Japan. The drug is tightly controlled here.

Chinese stocks drop despite intervention, other Asian stocks mixed after Wall Street decline

But many small investors jumped in late and bought shares near their peak, which leaves many facing losses. Increasingly frantic official measures to stop the decline include a weekend pledge by state-owned brokerages to buy shares and a promise from the central bank of more credit to finance trading. That helped to drive a 2.4 percent rebound Monday in the Shanghai index but analysts say artificial measures canno

US stocks slip after Greeks reject terms of bailout deal; European markets, oil drop sharply

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks in the U.S. fell broadly following drops in overseas markets as Greeks voted to reject creditor conditions for more loans, but the losses weren't as steep as many had feared. Still, many investors were clearly nervous, putting money into assets considered safe bets in turbulent times such as U.S. government bonds. A rout in the stocks of oil drillers and other energy companies fed the selling as the price oil plunged nearly 8 percent.
