NYC jazz musicians fear poverty in retirement, ask clubs to help with pensions

NEW YORK (AP) — Keisha St. John has been singing at some of the most famous jazz clubs in the nation for more than five decades. "Because jazz is considered the national treasure of America, there should be a greater concern for each musician who has paid a dear price to learn his or her craft," she testified Wednesday in front of the New York City Council. "We demand the just rewards of receiving a pension in our old age."

FDA panel recommends scaling back testosterone use in men, citing little evidence of benefit

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal health experts say there is little evidence that testosterone-boosting drugs are effective for treating common signs of aging and large studies are needed to support their continued use in millions of American men. Testosterone drugs have grown into a multibillion dollar market driven by industry advertisements for new pills, patches, gels and injections that promise relief from "Low-T." Company promotions link low testosterone to a variety of ailments in older men.

Wynn and Massachusetts gambling regulators sign and finalize Boston-area casino license

BOSTON (AP) — Wynn Resorts and Massachusetts gambling regulators on Wednesday finalized a license for a proposed $1.6 billion resort casino across from Boston, but the project has a looming threat: November's ballot question to repeal the state's casino law. MGM Resorts and Penn National Gaming, who have also won state gambling licenses, have pumped at least $1.7 million into a political action committee working to defeat the ballot question. If approved, the question would effectively halt the gambling developments in their tracks.
