Nike shares came under pressure Friday over the potential impact of extremely volatile currency rates. The ruble is hitting all-time lows against the U.S. dollar, Japan had dipped into recession and emerging markets are almost universally constrained. Nike reported quarterly earnings late Thursday and said that its worldwide futures orders, which are orders scheduled for delivery from December through April, are up 7 percent. But the numbers dropped in Japan and in emerging markets, where purchasing power has become limited as currencies there weaken.

(AP) — Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has lost a legal battle to restore his $4,900-a-month pension, a benefit that was canceled two years ago after he was sentenced for child molestation. Sandusky attorney Chuck Benjamin said he planned to file a challenge to the decision in court.

FAA authorizing 1st drone in Nevada test program; state chosen last year as 1 of 6 test sites

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration is authorizing the first drone that will fly in Nevada as part of the federal drone test site program. Dignitaries including Gov. Brian Sandoval, Sen. Dean Heller and Rep. Joe Heck were on hand Friday for the ceremony in Boulder City. The agency is issuing a Test Site Special Airworthiness Certificate to "Magpie," a drone built by the company Sensurion.

Vermont Gas pipeline estimate jumps 27 percent; company says it's hitting 'reset' on phase 2

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The incoming head of the natural gas utility working to extend a pipeline from Colchester to Vergennes and eventually Middlebury and Rutland said Friday the cost estimate for the first phase of the project is now $154 million, a 27 percent increase in the amount approved by state regulators in October.
