NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top airlines companies were mixed at the close of trading: Delta Air fell $.80 or 2.0 percent, to $38.64. JetBlue Airways Corp. rose $.03 or .3 percent, to $11.36. Southwest Airlines Co. fell $.67 or 1.9 percent, to $34.56. United Continental Holdings Inc. fell $.52 or 1.0 percent, to $49.38.

Banks companies shares mixed at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top banks companies were mixed at the close of trading: Bank of America Corp. fell $.09 or .5 percent, to $16.95. Citigroup Inc. fell $.18 or .3 percent, to $53.48. Goldman Sachs fell $1.69 or .9 percent, to $186.20. JPMorgan Chase fell $.21 or .3 percent, to $61.11.

As Scotland rejects independence, businesses and investors breathe sigh of relief

LONDON (AP) — Scotland's decision to reject independence from the United Kingdom gave British markets a short-term lift Friday but worries over future constitutional changes kept a lid on the relief rally. Investors breathed a sigh of relief that a host of thorny economic issues were not triggered by a Yes vote. The FTSE 100 index of leading British shares ended up 0.3 percent at 6,837.92 but had been higher earlier in the session.

Anti-Islamic ads coming to New York City transit system, but 'Killing Jews' ad rejected

NEW YORK (AP) — Anti-Islamic ads will begin appearing on 100 New York City buses and two subway entrances next week, but transit officials have rejected an ad from the same group that includes the phrase "Killing Jews." The ads are paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by blogger Pamela Geller. She says the campaign highlights points about Islam ignored by government and media.
