NEW YORK (AP) — Federal regulators approved a new drug designed by Bristol-Myers and AbbVie to ramp up the immune system so that it can to fight hard-to-treat cases of the blood cancer multiple myeloma. Patients who were treated with that regimen lived longer than patients who were given only Revlimid and the steroid, the FDA said. The median survival for the Empliciti patients was 19.4 months, compared with 14.9 months for the Revlimid patients. The side-effects of Empliciti included fatigue, fever, diarrhea, constipation, low white blood cell count, and anemia..

Retail stocks led the declines Monday as early signals on the holiday shopping season failed to impress. Target and Macy's fell 2 percent and Home Depot lost 1 percent. LE BOURGET, France (AP) — The largest group of world leaders ever to stand together kicked off two weeks of high-stakes climate talks outside Paris on Monday, saying that striking an ambitious deal to curb global warming can show terrorists what countries can achieve when they are united. The U.N.-organized gathering of 151 heads of state and government comes at a somber time for France, two weeks after militants linked to the Islamic State group killed 130 people around Paris.
