(AP) — The billionaire investor who is acquiring the Trump Taj Mahal says benefit cuts imposed by a bankruptcy court judge are "an essential sacrifice that must be made" to keep the casino open. Icahn responded to employees who demonstrated a day earlier outside his New York offices, saying their union was delaying a new contract by insisting on a health insurance plan he called "a lucrative racket" for union bosses.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A record 41.1 million visitors descended on Las Vegas last year. Of those, 5.2 million visitors attended one or more of the 22,103 conventions held last year. Both figures are up compared with the year prior. The agency says 3.1 million visitors came to Sin City in December, up 5.5 percent. Conventions held and meeting attendance dropped in December, as did the average daily rate and revenue per available room in downtown Las Vegas properties.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A state board has recommended an increase in the hourly wage paid to restaurant servers and other tipped workers in New York. The Wage Board voted Friday in favor of a proposal to raise the so-called tipped wage to $7.50 an hour at the end of the year. The law allows employers to pay tipped workers less than the minimum wage as long as gratuities make up the difference. The hourly wage currently paid to restaurant servers is $5.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ MutualFirst Financial Inc. (MFSF) on Friday reported fourth-quarter net income of $3.6 million. On a per-share basis, the Muncie, Indiana-based company said it had net income of 48 cents. The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 35 cents per share.
