TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — One of New Jersey's most notorious traffic bottlenecks may soon disappear. The work on what officials say is the equivalent of 170 miles of new lanes to widen the turnpike began in June 2009. The project's goal was to ease the chronic traffic bottlenecks that occur near Interchange 8A, where the car and truck lanes merge.

UBS puts Stamford campus on the market, signaling possible exit from southwest Connecticut

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Financial services giant UBS has put its Stamford building on the market in another sign the Swiss bank is ready to leave the city. Hruska said the move to list the space is "separate and distinct to whatever UBS is doing" and that the company has a lease that runs for several more years and it controls the building.

Maine agency approves deal between Poland Springs and Fryeburg Water Co.

FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) — The Maine Public Utilities Commission says Fryeburg Water Co. can enter into a long-term contract to sell water to Nestle Waters, bottler of Poland Springs. The contract runs for 25 years. Renewals could make it 45 years. Nestle says the deal allows the water company to reduce or suspend Poland Spring's water withdrawal if there is a shortage or emergency. Nestle spokesman Mark Dubois says the deal provides the utility "a reliable source of income."

NEW YORK (AP) — Breakthrough newcomers Sam Smith and 5 Seconds of Summer will take the stage at the 2014 American Music Awards. Smith and 5SOS will compete for new artist of the year. Iggy Azalea is the leading nominee at the AMAs with six. John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams each have five nominations. Lorde is up for four honors at the fan-voted show.
