PITTSBURGH (AP) _ EQT Corp. (EQT) on Thursday reported earnings of $98.6 million in its third quarter. On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 65 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 51 cents per share. The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 65 cents per share.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) _ Lorillard Inc. (LO) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $289 million. The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 90 cents per share. The tobacco company posted revenue of $1.32 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Analysts expected $1.33 billion, according to Zacks.

DETROIT (AP) — General Motors says its third-quarter profit nearly doubled as strong earnings in North America and China outweighed struggles in Europe and South America. It was the first quarter this year without significant charges for recalls. GM has issued 75 recalls in 2014 covering more than 30 million vehicles, costing the company more than $2.8 billion.
