NEW YORK (AP) — Female CEOs are outpacing their male colleagues in pay, although they remain vastly outnumbered in the top echelons of American companies. Marissa Mayer, the head of Yahoo, was the highest-paid female chief executive in the Equilar/AP pay study. Her compensation was almost double that of the next-highest earner on the list — Carol Meyrowitz of discount retailer TJX Companies.

Rhode Island beret manufacturer awarded contract with military worth more than $29 million

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — The federal government has awarded a Rhode Island firm a contract worth more than $29 million to produce berets for American military personnel. Max Brickle, president of the Woonsocket-based company, says the firm is looking to double the workforce of their beret division in light of the contract.

Vermont company disputing over name with Facebook, receives hundreds of pages in documents

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont upstart is disputing Facebook's claim that their name infringes on the social media giants trademark. Aaron Pollak with Designbook says Facebook didn't want them to using the suffix "book" at all in the online community. At least two other small Vermont companies have taken on big business for similar disputes.
