Malloy signed gun restrictions into law in April, gun manufacturer PTR Industries said it intended to leave the state to avoid the damage it expected to be inflicted on its business. EASING BACK: Stocks slid and bond yields rose sharply after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank could start to pull back on its bond purchases later this year if the economy improves enough, and end the program by mid-2014. STOCK SLUMP: The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 206 points, or 1.4 percent, to 15,112. The stock market started to fall after the Fed released its policy statement at 2 p.m. and Bernanke started speaking a half-hour later. It was the Dow's seventh straight move of 100 points or more.
Red Hat's 1Q net up on higher subscription revenue

Red Hat Inc., the company behind the Linux open-source operating system, said Wednesday that net income in its fiscal first-quarter grew 8 percent as subscription revenue increased. The Raleigh, N.C. company earned $40.4 million, or 21 cents per share, for the period that ended May 31. That is compared with $37.5 million, or 19 cents per share, earned in the same quarter last year.
