CUDAHY, Calif. (AP) — Four firefighters were hurt after falling through a roof while battling an intense blaze at an abandoned casino in southern Los Angeles County, officials said Friday. "They slid into the fire and were immediately removed by firefighters on the floor below," he said. "They landed on top of each other so that prevented major injuries."

WASHINGTON (AP) — America's largest tobacco companies must inform consumers that cigarettes were designed to increase addiction, but not that they lied to the public about the dangers of smoking, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday. The ads would have begun with a preamble statement that the companies "deliberately deceived the American public." The ads stem from a 2006 court ruling ordering the companies to admit they had lied for decades about the dangers of smoking.

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Thousands of patients at three northern New Jersey hospitals have been alerted that their personal information was stolen in a data breach. Officials said an employee with Medical Management LLC gave away names, Social Security numbers and birthdates of patients. The company handles billing for The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.
