OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s fourth quarter profit slid 17 percent because of declines in the paper value of its investments and derivative contracts. Warren Buffett's company released its latest results Saturday along with his letter to shareholders. Berkshire's quarterly net income declined to $4.16 billion, or $2,529 per Class A share, on $48.3 billion revenue. That's down from $4.99 billion, or $3.035 per share, on $47 billion revenue last year.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Scandinavian Airlines says some 30 flights out of Copenhagen have been canceled after members of a Danish cabin crew union walked out to protest the carrier's plan to move 147 employees to a domestic airline that SAS acquired last year. Kromann-Mikkelsen could not immediately confirm that dozens of SAS-operated flights to Copenhagen also were canceled Saturday.

With strike over, FairPoint shareholders 'beating the drums' to sell the company, analyst says

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — FairPoint Communications said it needed to bring costs and benefits into sync with competitors in the telecommunications industry. By doing just that in a new labor pact, the company has made itself more attractive to potential buyers, an analyst and workers say. "Shareholders are beating the drums. They want to sell this company now," said Barry Sine, who monitors the company for Drexel Hamilton, a New York-based brokerage firm. "The unions, there's no love lost with this management team. The unions would like a new owner as well."

With strike over, FairPoint shareholders 'beating the drums' to sell the company, analyst says

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A Wall Street analyst says FairPoint shareholders are pressing for a sale of the company now that it has negotiated a new labor pact with workers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Union workers said during the four-month strike that North Carolina-based FairPoint was positioning itself to be sold. But the company disputes that, saying it's focused on trying to become profitable.
