Activists stage sit-in to protest what they say is Wall Street's role in climate crisis

NEW YORK (AP) — A day after 100,000 people marched to warn that climate change is destroying the Earth, more than a thousand activists gathered Monday in lower Manhattan's financial district, chanting, carrying signs and — in some places — sitting down in the street to protest what they said was corporate and economic institutions' role in the climate crisis.

Starbucks tests latte using chocolatey stout sauce

NEW YORK (AP) — Starbucks is testing a latte that it says has the "savory toasty malt" flavor of a foamy mug of stout. Despite the stout flavor, the latte does not contain alcohol. She declined to provide further details, noting Starbucks regularly tests new drinks. Starbucks Corp., based in Seattle, has enjoyed strong sales growth in part by continually introducing new food and drinks.

Obama administration to announce executive steps to dissuade corporate overseas shifts

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will outline new steps on Monday to prevent American companies from reincorporating overseas to shirk U.S. taxes, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said. President Barack Obama has denounced inversions as unpatriotic and has urged Congress to stop them. But with quick action in Congress unlikely, the Treasury Department has been reviewing potential actions the administration could take without Congress. Treasury is also examining ways to reduce the tax benefits for companies that pursue inversions.

Family of man killed in Minneapolis office shooting reaches settlement with Accent Signage

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The family of a man killed in a 2012 office shooting at Accent Signage Systems in Minneapolis has reached an undisclosed settlement with the company, according to an attorney and an order filed Monday by the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Beneke's family sued Accent Signage and Engeldinger's estate last year, alleging the company should have known from Engeldinger's work history that he was potentially dangerous. Last summer, a judge threw out claims against the gunman's estate but allowed two negligence counts against the company to proceed.
