SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The latest on the resignation of California's oil and gas supervisor, Steve Bohlen (all times local): 4:15 p.m. Environmental groups are stepping up criticism of California's oversight of the oil industry after the resignation of the state's oil and gas supervisor. Gov. Jerry Brown's office confirmed Steve Bohlen's resignation Monday, saying he'll return to his previous position at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory research center.

DuPont chemicals spinoff Chemours cutting about 400 positions in global workforce reduction

DOVER, Del. (AP) — The Chemours Co., a chemicals business spun off from the Dupont Co. earlier this year, says it is laying off about 5 percent of its global workforce. Chemours also will stop production at its Reactive Metals Solutions site in Niagara Falls, New York, by the end of 2016. About 200 employees and contractors at the Niagara Falls plant will be affected.

JetBlue Airways plans a more hands-on approach to training future airline pilots

NEW YORK (AP) — JetBlue wants to recruit a few flight students with no flying experience and train them to become pilots. The airline says applicants would still need to meet minimum requirements including 1,500 hours of flying experience before operating one of its planes. JetBlue said Monday it only plans to put 24 students through the training. The airline has about 2,600 pilots.

Testing of Alaska seafood finds no contamination from 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska seafood has not been tainted by the Fukushima nuclear disaster four years ago, according to test results announced Monday by a state agency. A 9.0 earthquake on March 11, 2011, generated a 130-foot wave that devastated 217 square miles in Japan. About 16,000 people were confirmed dead and nearly 2,600 were never found.
