COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Supporters of a plan to legalize marijuana in Ohio are challenging the proposal's ballot phrasing and title, arguing in a Thursday filing to the Ohio Supreme Court that certain words are inaccurate and intentionally misleading to voters. In its court filing, the ResponsibleOhio campaign objected to how the ballot wording describes the locations of marijuana establishments, number of retailers and the amount of marijuana people could possess, among other issues.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Amgen Inc. has won federal approval for the second medicine in a new class of pricey biotech drugs that reduce artery-clogging cholesterol more than older statin drugs that have been used for decades. PHOENIX (AP) — Activist investor Carl Icahn said late Thursday that he has taken an 8.5-percent stake in Freeport-McMoRan, just hours after the mining company announced cost cuts and lower spending in response to declining copper prices and soft economic conditions worldwide. Icahn said he wanted to discuss cuts to Freeport's operations and capital spending, and might seek representation on the board. According to FactSet, Icahn is now Freeport-McMoRan's largest shareholder.

Sprint offers DirecTV customers free year of phone service in challenge to new owner AT&T

NEW YORK (AP) — Sprint is offering DirecTV customers one free year of cellphone service in a bold move aimed at the satellite TV company's new owner, AT&T. Sprint, which is in the midst of a turnaround effort, has been making a range of promotional offers to lure customers. But so far, the Overland Park, Kansas, company hasn't been as successful as T-Mobile, which went through its own turnaround.
