(AP) — A Central California company has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of specific lots of its fresh peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots over concerns of possible listeria contamination. The company said the recalled fruit was packed and shipped to retailers from June 1 through July 12.

McDonald's profit slips as US sales continue to suffer

OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) — McDonald's Corp. said its profit slipped in the second quarter as sales in the U.S. continued to flag. In the U.S., sales at established locations fell 1.4 percent for the period fewer customers came into its restaurants. The company, based in Oak Brook, Illinois, hasn't managed to raise the figure since October.

Travelers 2Q profit drops 26 percent, misses forecast

NEW YORK (AP) — The Travelers Cos. (TRV) on Tuesday reported net income that decreased by 26 percent in its second quarter, and missed analysts' expectations. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $1.93 per share. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.06 per share.

US consumer prices up 0.3 percent in June, reflecting biggest jump in gasoline in 12 months

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. consumer prices rose in June at a slightly slower pace than in May with two-thirds of the June advance driven by the largest jump in gasoline prices in a year. Energy prices were up 1.6 percent, nearly double the May gain, reflecting a sharp 3.3 percent rise in gasoline costs. But food costs edged up just 0.1 percent, the smallest gain since January.
