LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — One of Kentucky's newest whiskey makers is making a big splash with its first batch of bourbon. The bottle appeared to rank among the most expensive bottles of bourbon ever sold. "We don't know of any other bottle that sold for that amount or higher," said Eric Gregory, president of the Kentucky Distillers' Association.

Despite plans to split, HP earnings show it's still grappling with sluggish PC business

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Hewlett-Packard Co.'s latest earnings report shows that despite three years of efforts to turn its business around, the venerable tech giant still has a lot more work ahead. Profit was down 6 percent from a year ago. For the August-October fiscal quarter, HP reported net income of $1.3 billion, or 70 cents a share, on revenue of $28.4 billion. That fell short of the expectations of analysts polled by FactSet, who predicted earnings of 80 cents a share on revenue of $28.7 billion.

Conservationists sue to force first broad review of federal coal-leasing program since 1979

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Conservation groups sued the government Tuesday to force officials to undertake their first broad review of the federal coal-leasing program in decades and consider how burning the fuel contributes to climate change. The plaintiffs in the case said there hasn't been a comprehensive review of the government's coal program since 1979. That was before climate-changing greenhouse gases produced by burning coal emerged as a significant public concern.

Driveway rent, unpaid taxes being fought over at closed Atlantic City casinos

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Some of the hottest action in Atlantic City involves closed casinos in bankruptcy court, where Donald Trump is trying to recoup rent he paid on a driveway and the city is fighting to collect more than $50 million in unpaid taxes. Despite maintaining that a division of Trump Entertainment Resorts — the company he once ran but no longer has anything to do with aside from a 10 percent ownership stake — actually owes the money, Trump paid the debt to the landlord and is now seeking to get it back from Trump Entertainment. In the court filing and in a letter to the landlord, R&R Associates, Trump said he was paying the rent "in order to avoid litigation for the moment." A copy of the check was included with the filing.
