ZURICH (AP) — The Latest on FIFA developments: ___ 7:25 p.m. (1725 GMT, 1:25 a.m. EDT) Russia's Foreign Ministry is lashing out at the United States over the arrest in Switzerland of seven officials from FIFA, the world soccer body. U.S. corruption charges were unveiled Wednesday against 14 people, and seven of them, all FIFA officials, were arrested Wednesday in Zurich. In addition, Swiss prosecutors announced criminal proceedings into FIFA's awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

Rob Nichols, former Treasury official, to become president of the American Bankers Association

NEW YORK (AP) — The American Bankers Association has hired Rob Nichols, the head of a major Wall Street lobbying group and former Treasury Department official, as its new president and CEO. Nichols currently leads the Financial Services Forum, a small but influential lobbying group whose membership consists solely of the CEOs of the biggest U.S. banks and insurance companies. Nichols and the FSF grew in prominence during the financial crisis, often acting as a point organization for the banks through every interaction between Washington and Wall Street.

For the week overall in prime time, CBS averaged 6.2 million viewers, ahead of NBC, ABC and Fox. TNT was the most popular cable network in prime time, averaging 3 million viewers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Geeknet, which announced Tuesday it would be acquired by retailer Hot Topic, said Wednesday it received a new and higher offer. Geeknet Inc. said it will review the new offer. Its shares rose $1.11, or 6.5 percent, to $18.11 in afternoon trading. ThinkGeek, based in Fairfax, Virginia, sells clothing, toys, gadgets and other products mostly based on popular movies, television shows and brands with "geek" appeal. That includes "Star Trek," ''The Big Bang Theory," ''Star Wars" and the Marvel brand. Its ThinkGeek Solutions business distributes video-game themed merchandise through licensed web stores.
