LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Lincoln's power utility has announced plans to use enough power from wind farms and a solar energy project to increase its renewable energy generation portfolio to 48 percent by 2016. The solar farm's footprint — equivalent to about 25 football fields — will be one of the largest in the Midwest and will be visible to passing motorists, Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler said.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The hackers who hit Sony Pictures Entertainment days before Thanksgiving crippled the network, stole gigabytes of data and spilled into public view unreleased films and reams of private and sometimes embarrassing executive emails. It was an extraordinarily public reaction from the highest levels of American government, considering that far more vital domestic interests have taken hits from foreign hackers in recent years — including the military, major banks and makers of nuclear and solar power whose trade secrets were siphoned off in a matter of mouse clicks.

HONOLULU (AP) — The United States is asking China for help as it weighs potential responses to a cyberattack against Sony Pictures Entertainment that the U.S. has blamed on North Korea. The official wasn't authorized to comment by name and demanded anonymity. President Barack Obama is considering how to respond to the attack on Sony's networks while he vacations this week in Hawaii.

State, county officials approve $3.1 million in incentives for Iowa vegetable oil refinery

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — State and local officials have approved $3.1 million in incentives for an Omaha, Nebraska, soybean processor to build a $90 million vegetable oil refinery in northwestern Iowa. The vegetable oil refinery will be designed for 30 rail tank cars per day. Estimated project costs include $2.5 million for site preparation, $14.5 million for construction and $71.5 million for new machinery and equipment.
