Company: Launch pad where rocket exploded should be up and running again late next year

WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (AP) — Despite a massive explosion in October, authorities say a state-owned launch pad at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility should be repaired and ready for testing late next year. The Virginia Commercial Spaceflight Authority provided news media outlets a tour of the launch pad damage Wednesday. Two lightning towers were knocked down by the blast, while the two others were heavily damaged. The explosion also dug a large crater next to the launch pad, while a nearby water tower was slightly charred and had exterior lighting damaged. Two nearby buildings scheduled to be removed prior to the explosion were also damaged.

NEW YORK (AP) — A Spanish farm and fishing dog, a Sicilian rabbit-hunting breed, an Italian sheepdog with a distinctive matted coat and a rugged South African watchdog are joining the American Kennel Club pack. Lakewood private investigator discovers a sideline business: selling purses with gun pouch

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Hours into a surveillance, two private investigators sat in the front seat of a car when the man working alongside Paula Summers asked if the paper Starbucks sack between them held cookies. "No," Summers said. "That's my gun." Afterward, Summers realized there had to be a better way to carry her Walther PPK.

14 employees at 'filthy' pharmacy charged in meningitis outbreak that killed 64 patients

BOSTON (AP) — Mold and bacteria were in the air and on workers' gloved fingertips. Pharmacists used expired ingredients, didn't properly sterilize them and failed to test drugs for purity before sending them to hospitals and pain clinics. Employees falsified logs to make it look as if the so-called clean rooms had been disinfected.
