General Mills warns wheat was accidentally used in 1.8M boxes of Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios

NEW YORK (AP) — General Mills is recalling 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced at a plant in Lodi, California, saying the cereal is labeled gluten-free but actually contains wheat. The cereal boxes have "better if used by" dates of July 2016 and the plant code "LD." The recall comes shortly after General Mills launched gluten-free Cheerios. Earlier this year the company said it found a way to remove small amounts of wheat, rye and barley that are unintentionally added to oat supplies when the oats are being grown or transported. It started shipping gluten-free Cheerios in five flavors in July.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A measure dubbed the "Britney bill" that would exempt stars who play at least four nights in Atlantic City from having to pay state income taxes on all shows in New Jersey that year is a step closer to becoming law. It was approved Monday by a state Senate committee. But a liberal think tank derided it as a "silly" waste of money.
