FDA grants accelerated approval to Bristol-Myers drug for hard-to-treat melanoma

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug from Bristol-Myers Squibb to treat the deadliest form of skin cancer. About 76,100 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with melanoma this year and 9,710 people are expected to die from the disease. Melanoma long has been considered one of the toughest cancers to treat, with few drug options up until a few years ago. Since 2011, the FDA has approved seven new drugs for the skin cancer, including Opdivo.

Caesars Entertainment to buy Caesars Acquisition, clearing unit for bankruptcy filing

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Caesars Entertainment Corporation says it will buy an affiliate as it tries to smooth the reorganization of a struggling division and balance its debt load. The announcement follows news Friday that the corporation had a signed plan with some of its Caesars Entertainment Operating Company creditors to file for bankruptcy by mid-January and reorganize its finances without visitors to its hotel-casinos noticing a difference.

Maine home sales decline 9.85 percent in November while sales price also slides

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine home sales dipped 9.85 percent in November while the median sales price dropped 1.43 percent. The Maine Association of Realtors reports the median sales price for November was $172,500. The National Association of Realtors reported a nationwide sales increase of 2.4 percent for the same month. The national median sales price rose 5.6 percent to $206,200 in November.

These services come as shoppers and retailers alike have a growing appetite to buy items from any country, regardless of distance and regulations. In fact, a PayPal report estimates that by 2018, about 130 million shoppers will be spending over $300 billion a year across the border, up from $105 billion in 2013.
