BEIJING (AP) — A pilot said Sunday that he is anxious but excited about flying a solar plane solo from China to Hawaii on the longest leg of the first attempt to fly around the world without a drop of fuel. The Solar Impulse 2 set off from Abu Dhabi in March and has stopped in Oman, India and Myanmar. Borschberg and another Swiss pilot, Bertrand Piccard, are taking turns flying the single-seater Swiss plane during a five-month journey to promote renewable energy use.

Should we stay or should we go? Britain's place in 28-nation EU comes up as election topic

LONDON (AP) — Ian Robinson, co-owner of a small investment firm in London, is watching Britain's general election this Thursday with unease. EMBA with a twist for China's top communists; party teaches elite about West despite backlash

SHANGHAI (AP) — In the still, early hours, cadres make their way down tree-lined paths. They walk through a polished lobby, down dim hallways and settle themselves in rows in plain, wood-paneled classrooms. Here, they sit at the vanguard of the Communist Party of China. "It does no harm for top leaders to get to know different ideas in the world," said Zhang Xuezhong, who was barred from teaching at East China University of Political Science and Law in 2013, after publishing an article critical of the government. "The Communist Party expects the people it rules to be ignorant, but they would not expect themselves to be like this."
