MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Testimony has begun at a public hearing on Wisconsin's right-to-work bill, after the measure rapidly passed the Senate last week. Early speakers evenly represented views for and against the bill. Twenty-four other states have passed similar legislation to prohibit businesses and unions from reaching agreements requiring all workers, not just union members, to pay union dues. Supporters say workers should get to decide about joining. Opponents contend it'll reduce worker pay.

Lawmaker with expense questions billed taxpayers for private plane to Chicago football game

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock billed taxpayers more than $10,000 on private flights last fall that included a trip to a Chicago Bears football game. Schock, a 33-year-old Republican representing Peoria, had been under scrutiny for using congressional funds to redecorate his Capitol Hill office in the style of the TV show "Downton Abbey." He personally repaid those charges last month, and his office had said it's reviewing other expenses.

NYU starts associate's degree program at New York state prison with Ford Foundation grant

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York University has enrolled 36 inmates in English classes at Wallkill Correctional Facility in the Hudson Valley. Backed by a $500,000 Ford Foundation grant, NYU's new program began this semester and can lead to an associate's degree. According to the university, credits earned at the medium-security prison in liberal arts, or future introductory courses from its professional schools, can apply later in continuing studies at NYU or can transfer to other colleges.

Spain: Eurozone nations negotiating 3rd bailout for Greece that could provide up to $56B

MADRID (AP) — Eurozone nations are negotiating a third bailout worth as much as 50 billion euros ($56 billion) for Greece, Spain's economy minister said Monday. Spanish Economy Minister Luis de Guindos said at a conference in the northeastern city of Pamplona that a new bailout would provide between 30 billion euros and 50 billion euros. Its "central scenario for Greece is a deal on the basis of the current bailout, and new conditions to be set with flexibility."
