The top seller was a green 1970s-era animatronic Tiki Room bird, which fetched $153,400. The 1967 "Pirates" skeleton, which holds a cutlass and chugs from a bottle, went for $153,400.

Tourism on the rise in Malaysia in 2014 despite aura of tragedy from double plane disasters

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Two airplane catastrophes put Malaysia on the map in a bad way in 2014. But they didn't hurt the country's tourism, and the higher visibility may even have helped: visitor numbers had their strongest growth in years. So when Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing with 239 people on board en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, it put the global spotlight on Malaysia and seemingly dealt a blow to its tourism strategy. A double whammy came four months later when a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over rebel-held eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board.

Gov't watchdog warns of cybersecurity weaknesses in nation's air traffic control system

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation's system for guiding planes and other aircraft is at "increased and unnecessary risk" of being hacked, according to a report by government watchdog released Monday. One area of weakness is the ability to prevent and detect unauthorized access to the vast network of computer and communications systems the FAA uses to process and track flights around the world, the report said. The FAA relies on more than 100 of these air traffic systems to direct planes.

GOP tout plans _ with few details _ to help people if court voids health law subsidies

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congressional Republicans sent a message Monday that they hope the Supreme Court and voters will hear: They have ideas to keep the country's health care system from crumbling if the justices obliterate a bedrock feature of President Barack Obama's heath care law. In an opinion article scheduled for Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, the House chairmen said they were working on a proposal that would let states abandon crucial requirements imposed by Obama's statute.
