The indictment of soccer officials and marketing and TV executives Wednesday alleges 12 schemes: SCHEME A — 1993, 1995 AND 1997 COPA AMERICAS Traffic Brazil purchased rights for the three tournaments in a deal worth $6.6 million. Nicolas Leoz of Paraguay, then president of the South American governing body CONMEBOL and later a FIFA executive committee member, refused to sign the contract until he received a dollar payment in six figures. In 1993 and 1995, Leoz demanded additional payments starting in 1993 or 1995 for future Copa America tournaments, and payments increased over time to seven figures. In 2007, the year Venezuela hosted the tournament, the country's soccer federation president, Rafael Esquivel, demanded and received $1 million and $700,000 payments from Traffic.

SkyWest flight diverts to Boise for medical issue, needs inspection after overweight landing

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A SkyWest Airlines spokeswoman says a flight from Eugene, Oregon, to Denver that diverted to Boise, Idaho, because of a medical emergency couldn't resume its journey because the plane required an inspection. Snow says some of the 68 passengers were put on other flights. The airline also dispatched another plane that was scheduled to leave Boise on Wednesday evening with the rest of Flight 6391's passengers.

Tracy Morgan, Wal-Mart settle lawsuit over highway crash that injured him, killed his friend

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Actor-comedian Tracy Morgan has settled his lawsuit against Wal-Mart over a highway crash that killed one man and left Morgan and two friends seriously injured. "Walmart took full responsibility for the accident, which we greatly appreciate," he said Wednesday in a statement. In the same statement, Morgan said Wal-Mart "did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably."
