NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks were little changed on Wednesday, keeping the major indexes near record levels, as investors assessed the latest reports on the economy. MIXED PICTURE: Investors got three got reports Wednesday morning that gave mixed signals on how the U.S. economy was doing. Orders for long-lasting manufactured goods rose in October, but a key category that tracks business investment plans declined sharply for a second straight month.

Nevada gambling revenue down 4 percent in October; Vegas Strip declines while Reno sees gains

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling revenue was down for the third month in a row compared with a year ago. Casinos kept $914 million of all the wagers and bets made in October, 4 percent short from the same time a year ago, according to the latest statistics from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Mike Lawton, the board's senior research analyst, said revenues have been "flat to down" for some time. Since January, gambling has been down a little less than one percent compared with the first 10 months in 2013, he said.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Salt Lake City Council has passed a set of guidelines that pave the way for ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft to operate in the city legally — but the companies say the rules are burdensome and redundant and that they want Utah's largest city to go back to the drawing board.
