World Series rating for opener reaches record low for San Francisco's 7-1 win over Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A World Series opener involving the San Francisco Giants set a record low TV rating for the second time in three seasons. That broke the previous low of a 7.6 rating and 12.2 million for the Giants' 8-3 victory over Detroit in 2012. San Francisco's 11.7 win over Texas in the 2010 opener got an 8.9 rating.

Several planes delayed at Miami airport when man jokes about bomb; he faces hoax charge

MIAMI (AP) — Several flights were delayed at Miami International Airport after authorities say an international passenger joked about having a bomb. The comment triggered safety protocols, and the Miami-Dade Police Department bomb squad responded. No explosives were found, but the response caused five outbound flights to be delayed up to an hour.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Two closed abortion clinics in Alabama have reopened, giving the state a total of five licensed clinics, but how long most remain open depends on the outcome of a lawsuit. The Birmingham clinic closed in January after firing two employees for selling abortion medication to a person in the clinic parking lot. The clinic replaced its staff and made other changes, according to public records at the health department.

Feds accuse owner of Conn. inn of bilking Conn., Mass. of millions in tobacco tax revenue

LITCHFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Federal officials have accused the owner of the Litchfield Inn of defrauding Massachusetts and Connecticut of $43 million in tobacco taxes. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms says Bokhari failed to pay excise taxes on smokeless tobacco and cigars from 2008 to 2012.
