Spartan Stores tops 4Q earnings expectations, meets revenue forecasts

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) _ Spartan Stores Inc. (SPTN) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $11.9 million. The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based company said it had net income of 32 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 44 cents per share. The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

Weis Markets posts 4th-quarter profit of $13.9 million

SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) _ Weis Markets Inc. (WMK) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $13.9 million. The Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based company said it had profit of 51 cents per share. The food retailer posted revenue of $713.8 million in the period. For the year, the company reported profit of $55.2 million, or $2.05 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.78 billion.
