Aerospace companies shares mixed at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top aerospace companies were mixed at the close of trading: Boeing rose $1.07 or .9 percent, to $124.31. Lockheed Martin Corp. fell $.71 or .4 percent, to $175.53. Northrop Grumman Corp. rose $.23 or .2 percent, to $124.67. Raytheon fell $.62 or .6 percent, to $96.84.

HBO and CBS join the a la carte streaming brigade, but don't count cable out yet

NEW YORK (AP) — Cord cutters rejoiced last week after HBO and CBS announced plans to sell stand-alone streaming services, a move that cable and satellite television providers have resisted for years. Customers tired of paying big fees for hundreds of channels they never watch just to have access to a few favorite shows might be expected to start cancelling cable service in droves. Get Netflix, throw in HBO, add a network here and there — why would anyone sign up now for cable?

The hike got an important boost when Southwest matched it a day later. Other airlines often drop price hikes if they are resisted by Southwest, which carries the most domestic passengers.

Energy Department inspector general inconclusive on firing of Hanford whistleblower

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Energy's inspector general on Monday said it could not determine if a whistleblower on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation was fired for raising safety concerns because two contractors failed to provide all the documents needed in the investigation. Busche was a manager for URS Energy and Construction, Inc., which is a subcontractor of Bechtel National, Inc. in building the $13 billion plant.
