EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Police in Everett, Washington, say they're responding to unconfirmed reports of a man with a weapon at the Boeing plant there. According to KOMO-TV, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell says there have been no reports of shots fired or any injuries. Snell says several people called police Thursday evening to report an armed man inside the plant where several types of commercial airplanes are built.

TOKYO (AP) — Japan's economic recovery remained in the doldrums in September, as household spending fell, inflation edged lower and unemployment ticked up. Core inflation, excluding volatile food prices, was at 3.0 percent, down from 3.1 percent in August. Unemployment rose to 3.6 percent from 3.5 percent.
