TOKYO (AP) — Japanese automaker Honda reported Friday a 20 percent jump in fiscal first quarter profit on the back of a cheap yen that offset the damage from a massive air bag recall. Quarterly sales gained nearly 16 percent to 3.7 trillion yen ($29.9 billion). The Tokyo-based maker of the Accord sedan and Odyssey minivan has been the hardest hit among automakers from the costs related to a global recall of Takata Corp.'s air bags that can explode.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Lead negotiators from the European Union and International Monetary Fund began an intensive round of talks with Greece on Friday to hammer out details of a third international bailout worth some 85 billion euros ($93 billion). The bailout talks must be concluded before Aug. 20, when a debt repayment to the European Central Bank worth more than 3 billion euros is due.

MIAMI (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday will call on Congress to end the trade embargo the U.S. has imposed against Cuba since 1962. Perhaps more importantly, it draws a sharp contrast with two top Republican presidential contenders from Florida, Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush, at a time when younger Cuban-American voters in Florida are softening their stance on the matter. The Republican-led Congress is unlikely to allow such a change in U.S.-Cuba relations anytime soon.
