Hill International beats 2Q net income expectations, misses revenue forecasts

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Hill International Inc. (HIL) on Monday reported second-quarter profit of $4.4 million. On a per-share basis, the Philadelphia-based company said it had profit of 9 cents. The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 7 cents per share.

Puerto Rico confirms it failed to make $58 million debt payment Saturday as debt woes mount

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — The government of Puerto Rico has confirmed that it failed to make a $58 million debt payment that was due Saturday, a significant escalation of the debt crisis facing the U.S. island territory. Moody's Investor Service said the missed payment was the first in what it believes will be broad defaults on commonwealth debt.

XL Group posts 2Q profit of $915 million, result tops expectations

DUBLIN (AP) _ XL Group PLC (XL) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $915 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier. The Dublin-based company said it had net income of $3.11 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 84 cents per share. The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 77 cents per share.
