Silicon Laboratories tops 2Q profit expectations, misses revenue forecasts

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Silicon Laboratories Inc. (SLAB) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $7.6 million. The Austin, Texas-based company said it had profit of 17 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 56 cents per share. The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

Jury awards $125K to woman who suffered lead poisoning in Rhode Island apartment 17 years ago

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island jury has awarded $125,000 to a 19-year-old who sued her landlord for lead poisoning she says she suffered while living in a Pawtucket apartment when she was 2. The law firm Motley Rice, which represented Claiborne, said in a statement that even though the lead exposure occurred 17 years ago, Claiborne still suffers from and will continue to suffer for the rest of her life from brain injuries and IQ loss.

Insurer Anthem raises 2015 forecast again after 2Q net income rises more than 17 percent

Health insurer Anthem has bumped up its 2015 forecast again after earnings jumped more than 17 percent in its most recent quarter. The Blue Cross-Blue Shield carrier now expects 2015 adjusted earnings to top $10 per share, up from a previous forecast for earnings of greater than $9.90 per share. Analysts forecast, on average, earnings of $10.04 per share, according to FactSet.

American Tower misses 2Q net income and revenue expectations

BOSTON (AP) _ American Tower Corp. (AMT) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $156.1 million. On a per-share basis, the Boston-based company said it had profit of 30 cents. The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 49 cents per share.
