(AP) — A sloppy mix of rain and snow rolled into the Northeast on Wednesday just as millions of Americans began the big Thanksgiving getaway, grounding hundreds of flights and turning highways hazardous along the congested Washington-to-Boston corridor. Some travelers tried to change their plans and catch earlier flights to beat the storm, and major airlines waived their re-booking fees. But most planes were already filled.

Lackluster consumer, business spending may slow US growth in final months of 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. consumers and businesses spent cautiously last month, a sign that strong growth during the spring and summer may decelerate in the final three months of the year. "The economy is poised to slow again as we move into the fourth quarter, after a stellar catch-up from last year's horrific winter weather," Diane Swonk, an economist at Mesirow Financial, said in a note to clients.

Wheat and corn higher, oats and soybeans lower on the CBOT; beef and pork lower on the CME.

CHICAGO (AP) — Grain futures were mixed Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat for Mar delivery was up 4.75 cents to $5.6250 a bushel; Mar corn was 4.25 cents higher at 3.9150 a bushel; Mar oats fell .50 cent to $3.0850 a bushel; while Jan soybeans declined 4 cents to $10.47 a bushel. Beef and pork were lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Obama administration teams up with shopping center company on health insurance outreach

CHICAGO (AP) — The Obama administration will promote health insurance coverage at shopping malls starting on Black Friday and continuing through the busiest shopping days of the holiday season, officials announced Wednesday. They said more than 462,000 people selected a private insurance plan in the first week of 2015 enrollment through the online marketplace HealthCare.gov.
