NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks were mostly unchanged in late afternoon trading Friday as energy companies fell along with the price of oil. Investors are weighing the latest batch of corporate earnings results and a report showing a slight increase in inflation last month. OIL DROP: The price of oil fell $1, or 1.6 percent, to close at $59.72 a barrel, helping push down the stocks of drillers and other energy-related companies. Hess Corp. lost 1 percent.

White House: Offensive replies on @POTUS Twitter account are 'part of an open society'

Earnest says that's why Obama launched the account on Monday after more than six years in office. A review of the Twitter feed finds numerous messages that are racist or that call the president names. Others welcome him to Twitter.

2 expelled Wesleyan University students face US charges over on-campus drug overdoses

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Two former Wesleyan University students pleaded not guilty Friday to federal charges they distributed synthetic party drugs that resulted in on-campus overdoses and sent 11 people to hospitals. The two men are among five Wesleyan students who have been expelled since their arrest on state charges in connection with the on-campus drug overdoses, which left two students near death, including one who had to be revived when his heart stopped beating.

Report says hackers stole users' names, dating preferences from adult dating site

The operator of a popular adult dating website says it's investigating a potential security breach, following a report that hackers stole names, email addresses and information about the sexual preferences of up to 4 million members. The Silicon Valley company that operates the service says in a statement that it's hired a prominent cyber-security firm to investigate and is telling members to update their user names and passwords. FriendFinder Networks has not confirmed any details but says there's no evidence any financial information has leaked.
