SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California's chief utility regulator finished the last meeting of his 12-year tenure by calling himself a man who got things done. One was a deadly gas pipeline explosion in 2012 that killed eight people. The other involved allegations of backroom dealings with Pacific Gas & Electric Co.

Hellman's maker Unilever drops lawsuit against maker of eggless spread 'Just Mayo'

Hellman's mayonnaise maker Unilever has withdrawn its lawsuit against the maker of "Just Mayo." Unilever filed suit against Hampton Creek earlier this year claiming the name of the small California company's product amounted to false advertising. The consumer-products giant, whose U.S. arm is based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, had said that "Just Mayo" has no eggs and therefore doesn't meet the definition of mayonnaise. It argued that the word "mayo" implies that the product is mayonnaise, and that Hampton Creek was stealing market share from Hellman's.

The country also pledges to enforce its anti-monopoly laws equally among Chinese and foreign companies. Deadwood casinos appear to triumph in state Supreme Court promotional program taxation case

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Gambling boosters lauded this week's South Dakota Supreme Court decision that Deadwood casinos will no longer have to pay gambling taxes on promotional programs that give patrons free credits to play slot machines, saying Thursday that it'll save operators big money. First Gold Hotel owner Mike Gustafson, one of the main backers of the lawsuit, said the decision would save operators who use promotional programs several thousand dollars a month in taxes.
