More than five years removed from the Great Recession, worries had taken hold that perhaps the world's largest economy had slid into a semi-permanent funk. Consumers, businesses and investors, after enduring a brutal winter, showed renewed vigor as the year wore on and set the United States apart from much of the world.

Wheat for Mar delivery fell .75 cent to $6.1075 a bushel; Mar corn was 7 cents higher at 4.1475 a bushel; Mar oats lost 1.75 cents to $3.06 a bushel; while Mar soybeans gained 18.75 cents to $10.54 bushel. Beef was mixed and pork higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
